About The Position

Vercel is seeking a DevRel Engineer to join their product teams focused on agentic infrastructure, specifically AI Gateway, Sandbox, and related primitives. This role involves working closely with product and engineering teams to build with and showcase the capabilities of these new tools. The DevRel Engineer will be responsible for creating demos, templates, and open-source projects, teaching developers about agentic infrastructure through various content formats, and influencing product development with early feedback. They will also be involved in product launches, tracking developer sentiment, and bringing external insights back into the product teams. The role reports to the Head of AI Infrastructure and can be located anywhere, with in-office anchor days for those near Vercel's offices in SF, NY, London, or Berlin.

Requirements

• 5+ years in engineering, DevRel, or DX roles, with software you can point to.
• Have built and shipped AI applications or agents: you know tool calling, model routing, and sandboxed code execution from using them.
• Strong TypeScript skills.
• Familiarity with the Next.js and AI SDK ecosystem.
• A public body of work: talks, posts, open source, or videos.
• Ability to take a half-finished API and produce a working demo and a clear explanation in the same week, often times the same day.
• Experience changing a product roadmap with developer feedback.

Nice To Haves

• Maintain or contribute to an open source project other developers depend on.
• Have spun up a microVM and have opinions on why isolation matters for agents.
• Have shipped something real on Vercel with the AI SDK.

Responsibilities

• Build agents and applications on AI Gateway and Sandbox before they ship, then turn what you learn into demos, templates, and open source projects developers actually clone and run.
• Teach developers how to build with agentic infrastructure through writing, talks, videos, and live coding.
• Set the canonical examples the ecosystem emulates.
• Shape the products themselves by participating in planning meetings, identifying rough edges, and ensuring they are fixed before launch.
• Own important pieces of launches: example repos, launch demos, docs contributions, and the first wave of answers when developers start asking questions.
• Track how developers across the ecosystem are building agents, where they get stuck, and what they're reaching for that doesn't exist yet.
