DevRel Engineer, Agentic Infrastructure

VercelSan Francisco, CA
$168,000 - $252,000Remote

About The Position

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company, aiming to free people and agents to ship what’s next. Having shaped the web with products like Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, Vercel is now building the platform for a future where agents will build, extend, and operate products. This role involves working within product teams to build and showcase Vercel's agentic infrastructure, including AI Gateway and Sandbox. The DevRel Engineer will collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, get early access to tools, and demonstrate their capabilities to the developer community. The position reports to the Head of AI Infrastructure and can be located anywhere. For those near Vercel offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), in-office anchor days are required on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Applications must include a link to a project that has educated developers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in engineering, DevRel, or DX roles, with demonstrable software contributions.
  • Experience building and shipping AI applications or agents, including knowledge of tool calling, model routing, and sandboxed code execution.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and familiarity with the Next.js and AI SDK ecosystem.
  • A public portfolio of work, such as talks, posts, open-source projects, or videos.
  • Ability to create a working demo and clear explanation for a half-finished API within a week, often the same day.
  • Proven track record of influencing a product roadmap with developer feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Maintenance or contribution to a widely depended-upon open-source project.
  • Experience spinning up a microVM and understanding the importance of isolation for agents.
  • Experience shipping a project on Vercel using the AI SDK.

Responsibilities

  • Build agents and applications on AI Gateway and Sandbox before they ship, then turn what you learn into demos, templates, and open source projects developers actually clone and run.
  • Teach developers how to build with agentic infrastructure through writing, talks, videos, and live coding, setting canonical examples for the ecosystem.
  • Shape the products by participating in planning meetings with PMs and engineers, identifying and ensuring the resolution of rough edges before launch.
  • Own key aspects of product launches, including example repos, launch demos, documentation contributions, and initial developer support.
  • Bring external developer insights into the company by tracking how developers build agents, identifying pain points, and recognizing unmet needs.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.
  • Mentorship and opportunities for professional development, including attending events to build network and skills.
  • Flexible Time Off.
  • Provision of necessary gear and a WFH budget for home office setup.
