About The Position

Leidos is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared DevOps Software Engineer to join a team focused on building and deploying a cutting-edge technology stack for the DIA-NMEC (National Media Exploitation Center) DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP). This role is part of a long-term program to modernize the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P), contributing to mission-critical capabilities within a collaborative and innovative environment. The work is primarily on-site in Bethesda, MD, with flexible scheduling and occasional remote work options. As a DevOps Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and maintaining a full-stack, containerized microservices architecture. Your responsibilities will include systems administration, installation, configuration, and promoting DevOps best practices across engineering teams. You will collaborate with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams, working with a multidisciplinary group to deploy, triage, and maintain a production big-data pipeline on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka. You will also enhance CI/CD pipelines, design scalable infrastructure, use Helm for Kubernetes deployments, partner with Systems Engineers on solutions, contribute to documentation, and participate in Agile ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience; 6+ years with a Master’s
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Strong Linux proficiency
  • Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating systems at scale
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Development experience (Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.)
  • Experience supporting enterprise or production systems
  • Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems (AMQP, JMS)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Familiarity with GPU-based Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with SALT for deployment automation
  • Familiarity with Helm / Helmfile
  • Familiarity with Nexus

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big-data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability
  • Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments
  • Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements
  • Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities
  • Contribute technical input to engineering documentation, diagrams, and models
  • Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, bug triage, and related team activities
