About The Position

Leidos is seeking a TS/SCI-cleared DevOps Software Engineer to join a team building and deploying a cutting-edge technology stack for the DIA-NMEC (National Media Exploitation Center) DOMEX Technology Platform (DTP). This role is part of a 10-year program supporting the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform (D3P) Modernization effort. The engineer will contribute to mission-critical capabilities alongside a collaborative, innovative, and growth-oriented team. The work is primarily on-site in Bethesda, MD, with a flexible schedule and occasional remote work opportunities. As a DevOps Software Engineer, you will help design, deploy, and maintain a full-stack, containerized microservices architecture. You will also support systems administration, installation, configuration, and the adoption of DevOps best practices across cross-functional engineering teams. In this fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with systems engineering, architecture, development, security, operations, and integration teams. You will work with a multidisciplinary group of developers, integrators, and system administrators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) with 8+ years of relevant experience; 6+ years with a Master’s
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Strong Linux proficiency
  • Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD orchestration and GitLab
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional engineering environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating systems at scale
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Development experience (Bash, PowerShell, SALT, Python, Groovy, Java, etc.)
  • Experience supporting enterprise or production systems
  • Familiarity with Kafka or other messaging systems (AMQP, JMS)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Familiarity with GPU-based Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with SALT for deployment automation
  • Familiarity with Helm / Helmfile
  • Familiarity with Nexus

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big-data pipeline built on Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation to accelerate development and improve reliability
  • Design and support scalable, redundant infrastructure across physical and virtual environments
  • Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features and evolving requirements
  • Partner with Systems Engineers to architect solutions for new capabilities
  • Contribute technical input to engineering documentation, diagrams, and models
  • Participate in Agile release planning, scrums, design sessions, bug triage, and related team activities
