About The Position

Mirantis is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to own deployment, release, and reliability for k0rdent-ai, a multi-tenant control plane for enterprise GPU infrastructure. The platform’s core services—including Keycloak, Kong, Temporal, Go APIs, and PostgreSQL databases—run across control-plane and regional clusters and must be safely upgraded, continuously observed, and quickly recoverable. The role operates the platform on AWS Kubernetes and bare-metal clusters, delivering services through Helm charts and k0rdent ServiceTemplates and MultiClusterServices. A substantial focus is engineering the foundations for stateful services, including snapshot-capable storage, CloudNativePG backup and point-in-time recovery, and CI/CD and bare-metal end-to-end pipelines. The engineer also owns operational readiness through runbooks, restore drills, and reliable upgrade and rollback paths that protect against data loss.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, including 3+ years operating production Kubernetes for business-critical services.
  • Strong grasp of Kubernetes primitives, including workloads and StatefulSets, operators and CRDs, persistent volumes and CSI storage, RBAC, and network policies; hands-on experience upgrading and troubleshooting production clusters.
  • Hands-on authoring of non-trivial Helm charts, including templating, values design, chart dependencies, and testing with helm-unittest or chart-testing.
  • Practical experience with CSI drivers, StorageClasses, and volume snapshots; AWS EBS CSI or equivalent experience with Longhorn, Ceph (Rook), OpenEBS, or another cloud CSI driver.
  • Hands-on experience running PostgreSQL through a Kubernetes operator, including backups, restores, and point-in-time recovery.
  • Production experience in AWS (EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, S3); equivalent GCP or Azure experience also counts.
  • Experience designing and maintaining GitHub Actions or GitLab CI pipelines.
  • Scripting skills in Bash plus Python or Go (Golang).
  • Clear written and spoken English and comfort working across time zones, with regular overlap with US and European teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering or a related field, or 8+ years of equivalent related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with k0rdent, Cluster API, or a multi-cluster delivery tool such as Argo CD ApplicationSets, Fleet, or Sveltos.
  • AWS EKS experience.
  • Experience with bare-metal provisioning (Metal3, Ironic, PXE) and GPU or AI infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Kong Gateway or the Kubernetes Gateway API, and Keycloak/OIDC identity integration.
  • Experience operating Temporal or other workflow engines in production.
  • Experience delivering software into air-gapped or sovereign environments using private registries and mirrored artifacts.
  • Experience designing cross-region disaster recovery for stateful services, including RPO/RTO trade-off decisions.
  • Certifications such as CKA/CKS or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects such as Helm charts, Kubernetes operators, or CNCF projects.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, upgrade, and operate k0s/k0rdent-managed Kubernetes clusters on AWS and bare-metal hardware across a global control plane and multiple regions, including cluster lifecycle, node maintenance, capacity planning, and version upgrades.
  • Author and maintain Helm charts and k0rdent ServiceTemplates and MultiClusterServices for core services, including dependency ordering, health gating, versioning, and zero-downtime upgrade paths.
  • Design and operate Kubernetes storage in each environment, including AWS EBS CSI in the cloud and OpenEBS LocalPV, Longhorn, or Ceph on bare metal; configure StorageClasses, reclaim policies, CSI snapshot controllers, and VolumeSnapshotClasses.
  • Operate CloudNativePG backup and recovery, including scheduled volume snapshots, continuous WAL archiving to object storage, point-in-time recovery, and replica clusters; define RPO/RTO targets and conduct regular restore drills.
  • Build and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines for linting, chart unit tests, artifact packaging and publishing to OCI registries, and on-demand bare-metal end-to-end environments.
  • Maintain declarative infrastructure as code using Terraform and Argo CD or Flux so environments remain reproducible and reviewable through code.
  • Build monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry for service health, database replication and backup status, and capacity.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, lead troubleshooting, and drive post-incident improvements.
  • Manage TLS and certificate lifecycle with cert-manager, secrets, network policies, and least-privilege RBAC; support private-registry and air-gapped installations.

Benefits

  • Operate advanced AI infrastructure environments in production.
  • Work with NVIDIA GPU technologies, Kubernetes platforms, and high-performance networking environments.
  • Help define operational standards and reliability practices for next-generation AI infrastructure services.
  • Influence adoption of AI-powered operational capabilities through k0rdent AI.
  • Work alongside highly skilled engineers solving complex infrastructure and platform challenges at scale.
  • Join a growing organisation investing in AI infrastructure, platform services, and operational innovation.
