DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Qvest US•Los Angeles, NY

About The Position

Qvest US is hiring a DevOps Engineer for its Innovation and Development Center (IDC), which builds custom software using modern technologies to solve complex client problems. The role focuses on designing and operating secure, reliable, and cost-efficient cloud platforms and delivery systems, primarily on AWS. The engineer will build infrastructure as code, automate delivery using CI/CD and GitOps, operate containerized workloads, improve observability and reliability, and develop tools that reduce manual work. The position also partners with engineering teams on cloud cost governance and supports client assignments. Remote or hybrid work may be permitted for some projects, but project and client requirements may require onsite work and travel to client locations.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade systems on AWS, including VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, and EventBridge.
  • Deep operational experience with Terraform, including state management and module design, or AWS CDK.
  • Strong Docker containerization background and hands-on operational experience with Kubernetes (EKS) or AWS ECS, including Helm templating.
  • Extensive experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, including automated testing, linting, security scanning, and artifact management.
  • Proficiency in Python, including AWS SDK/boto3, or Go, along with Linux shell scripting (Bash).
  • Proven experience implementing logging, metrics, and tracing platforms and designing structured on-call incident responses.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing GitOps workflows with Argo CD or Flux.
  • Familiarity with policy-as-code frameworks such as Open Policy Agent/Gatekeeper, Kyverno, or Checkov.
  • Understanding of MLOps pipelines and infrastructure for machine learning workloads, such as Kubeflow or AWS SageMaker.
  • Practical experience running OpenSearch or Elasticsearch clusters at scale.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer Professional certification, or other cloud certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, provision, and maintain modular AWS infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK; create reusable modules and enforce policy-as-code across environments.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, integrated with GitOps engines for zero-downtime progressive rollouts such as blue/green and canary deployments.
  • Manage production container workloads on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) or Amazon ECS, optimize image builds and build caching, and scale cluster resources.
  • Implement system-wide observability and define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets; establish actionable alerting that minimizes alert fatigue.
  • Integrate automated vulnerability scanning for container images, dependencies, and infrastructure as code into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage centralized identity, role-based access controls, and secrets management.
  • Develop Python or Go automation scripts and tools to eliminate manual toil, support automated backups, and validate disaster recovery procedures.
  • Partner with engineering teams to monitor cloud consumption, optimize resource allocation, and implement automated scaling policies for cost-efficient infrastructure.
  • Travel to client sites as required by project or assignment.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • 401(k) matching.
  • Flexible vacation.
  • Company-sponsored training to advance employees' skill sets.
  • Emphasis on employees' professional growth paths.
