About The Position

This role is vital to our organization's mission and growth. The selected candidate will work on challenging and interesting projects including maintaining current GitLab CI pipelines while leading their migration to GitHub Actions, integrated with Octopus Deploy for releases. This includes build, test, artifact publishing, and database deployments. The role also involves planning, analyzing, and migrating repositories, metadata, and version history from legacy platforms into GitHub Enterprise. Development and maintenance of Terraform for per-client environments and reusable modules, with changes reviewed through merge requests and applied through the pipeline, is also a key responsibility. The engineer will deploy and operate applications on Azure App Services and Azure Container Apps, and automate the build and deployment paths for legacy VM-hosted workloads. Building and maintaining container workflows, including tagging, package registry management, and promotion across environments, is expected. The role includes implementing and tuning monitoring, logging, and alerting in Datadog and Azure to ensure quick surfacing of deployment failures and performance regressions. Participation in incident response and the on-call rotation, conducting blameless post-incident reviews, and automating fixes for recurring issues are also part of the responsibilities. Additionally, the engineer will build security into the delivery pipeline (secrets handling, SAST, SCA, Managed Identity and Service Principal configuration, least privilege access, dependency scanning, etc.) in partnership with security and compliance teams. A key objective is to improve developer experience and delivery performance by standardizing pipeline templates, shortening build times, and tracking deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and time to restore service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on DevOps, build and release, or site reliability experience, including at least 2 years in Azure.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitLab CI, Octopus Deploy, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions, including Git branching and merge request workflows.
  • Strong Terraform skills and scripting ability in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Working knowledge of the Azure services used in application delivery: App Services, Container Apps, Azure SQL, Managed Identity, and Azure Front Door.
  • Hands-on experience with building and deploying .NET applications through automated pipelines.
  • Experience supporting production systems, including observability tooling, incident response, and on call.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps practices: secrets management, least-privilege access, identity configuration, and securing CI/CD pipelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience migrating .NET workloads from IIS on Windows VMs to Azure PaaS services such as App Services or Container Apps.
  • Experience working with Azure networking, including VNETs, subnets, Network Security Groups, Application Gateway, and traffic routing and failover patterns.
  • Exposure to Azure integration services such as Service Bus, Data Factory, or Logic Apps.
  • Experience delivering in regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2, or HITRUST), including change control, audit trails, and access reviews.
  • Microsoft Azure certification, ideally AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert) or AZ-104 (Azure Administrator).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current GitLab CI pipelines while leading their migration to GitHub Actions, integrated with Octopus Deploy for releases, covering build, test, artifact publishing, and database deployments.
  • Plan, analyze, and migrate repositories, metadata, and version history from legacy platforms (GitLab, Octopus, etc) into GitHub Enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform for per-client environments and reusable modules, with every change reviewed through merge requests and applied through the pipeline.
  • Deploy and operate applications on Azure App Services and Azure Container Apps, and automate the build and deployment paths that move legacy VM-hosted workloads onto them.
  • Build and maintain container workflows, including tagging, package registry management, and promotion across environments.
  • Implement and tune monitoring, logging, and alerting in Datadog and Azure so deployment failures and performance regressions surface quickly.
  • Participate in incident response and the on-call rotation, run blameless post-incident reviews, and automate fixes for recurring issues.
  • Build security in the delivery pipeline (secrets handling, SAST, SCA, Managed Identity and Service Principal configuration, least privilege access, dependency scanning, etc) in partnership with security and compliance teams.
  • Improve developer experience and delivery performance by standardizing pipeline templates, shortening build times, and tracking deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and time to restore service.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive total rewards package that also includes benefits, flexibility, and growth opportunities.
