About The Position

Devoteam is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical DevOps Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join its nearshore team in Portugal. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure for mission-critical applications, working with development and operations teams to provide efficient, secure, and scalable environments while improving deployment processes and system reliability. The engineer will manage GCP infrastructure and services, develop infrastructure-as-code solutions and CI/CD pipelines, implement containerization, and maintain monitoring, logging, alerting, and security practices. The role also includes documenting infrastructure and operational procedures and participating in an on-call rotation for incident response.

Requirements

At least 3 years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or systems administration.
Advanced proficiency with Google Cloud Platform services and architecture.
Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools, particularly Terraform.
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix system administration and command-line tools.
Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, or the ELK stack.
Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity management, and compliance frameworks.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to systematically analyze complex technical issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.

Nice To Haves

Experience with multi-cloud environments or hybrid cloud architectures.
Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and agile practices.
Relevant cloud certifications, such as Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Data Engineer.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and networking services.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions, particularly with Terraform, for consistent and reproducible environments.
Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build and other automation tools.
Implement containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and application performance issues to minimize downtime.
Establish and maintain logging, monitoring, and alerting systems.
Collaborate with development teams to improve application deployment strategies and cloud resource utilization.
Implement security best practices and compliance standards across cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and runbooks.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide incident response and resolution support.
