About The Position

The DevOps Engineer supports the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Augeo’s CI/CD pipelines, container infrastructure, cloud environments, and DevSecOps practices across the engineering organization. The role supports three technology ecosystems: AWE (TypeScript, React, Node.js, and AWS), Encore (.NET, C#, and SQL Server), and ColdFusion platforms (Lucee, ColdBox, and MySQL), each with distinct build, deployment, and infrastructure needs. The engineer helps execute the DevOps and DevSecOps roadmap, automates stages of the software delivery lifecycle, and embeds security into pipelines and infrastructure. The role also applies AI-powered operations tools and agentic AI assistants to infrastructure provisioning, security scanning, incident response, and deployment workflows, while collaborating with engineers across the platforms on DevOps practices. The position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. Travel is primarily local during the business day, though occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for team gatherings, client engagements, or executive off-sites.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions, including workflow design, environment secrets, and integration with AWS deployment targets.
  • Exposure to Podman for container image builds and management, including rootless containers and Podman Compose.
  • Familiarity with Amazon ECS, including Fargate and/or EC2 launch types, task definitions, service configurations, and integration with ECR and CloudWatch.
  • Some experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices such as SAST, DAST, SCA, or container image scanning.
  • Familiarity with secrets management solutions such as AWS Secrets Manager or HashiCorp Vault.
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK stack, or New Relic.
  • Willingness to learn the deployment and infrastructure needs of .NET/C#, Node.js/TypeScript, and ColdFusion/Lucee applications.
  • Interest in AI agent development for automated incident response, runbook execution, and infrastructure self-healing workflows.
  • Basic understanding of AWS networking fundamentals, including VPC design, security groups, NACLs, DNS, CDN, and load balancing.
  • Four-year college degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior mentorship or team-lead experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, CompTIA Security+, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines across the AWE, Encore, and ColdFusion platforms for reliable builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Help define and follow pipeline-as-code standards, including version-controlled workflows, branching, approval gates, and environment promotion strategies.
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes to reduce manual work and time to production.
  • Support containerized deployments using Podman and Amazon ECS, including image builds, registry management, task definitions, service configurations, and auto-scaling policies.
  • Assist with provisioning and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation tooling for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment automation, and operational tasks across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Support automated security compliance checks and vulnerability remediation workflows, including continuous compliance with SOC 2 Type II and support for PCI-DSS and other regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Participate in security audits of infrastructure, pipelines, and deployment configurations, helping identify and remediate vulnerabilities before production.
  • Use AI-powered operations tools and agentic AI assistants for monitoring, anomaly detection, incident triage, capacity planning, and automated remediation workflows.
  • Help build and deploy AI agents for security scanning, deployment validations, log analysis, runbook execution, and infrastructure drift detection.
  • Participate in incident response and production reliability practices, including an on-call rotation and post-incident reviews.
  • Embrace Augeo’s CORE values: Collaborative, Objective, Responsive, and Earnest.
