DevOps Engineer

Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital•Columbus, OH

About The Position

As BWE’s DevOps Engineer, you own how software gets built, tested, and released. BWE’s AI and Data teams are producing custom applications, agents, and integrations faster than they can safely deploy them, and this role provides the delivery path through pipelines, packaging, environments, and automation that makes releases repeatable, reversible, and auditable. The role works across an Azure and Microsoft 365 environment in a regulated commercial real estate finance business, where every change needs a record. This is a builder’s role focused on automating releases. The DevOps Engineer owns the build, test, and release path for custom applications and integrations; establishes CI/CD and Git workflow practices; manages environments and infrastructure as code; supports delivery of AI applications; integrates platforms; implements pipeline security and observability; produces change evidence for review; and serves as a Tier 3 escalation for owned pipelines, environments, and deployment tooling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or software delivery, with hands-on responsibility for production deployments.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for application code, not only scripts and configuration.
  • Strong proficiency with Git-based workflows, including branching, pull request review, and release tagging.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code and declarative configuration management.
  • Strong automation ability in Python, PowerShell, or equivalent, including building against REST APIs.
  • Experience managing application environments, including secrets management and promotion between environments.
  • Experience deploying to Azure or an equivalent cloud platform.
  • Experience producing change and deployment records suitable for audit or compliance review.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; BWE will not sponsor applicants for immigration benefits.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience helping data or AI engineering teams move prototypes into supported production services.
  • Experience integrating LLM applications, agents, or MCP connectors into enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Foundry, or comparable data and AI platforms.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration, or running automation as event-driven services.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including service principals and application registrations.
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.
  • Certifications such as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Own the build, test, and release path for BWE’s custom applications and integrations so changes reach production on a predictable, repeatable cadence.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that lint, test, validate, and deploy application code and configuration, with automated quality gates before production.
  • Package and deploy custom applications and internal tooling across environments, including versioning, rollback, and release documentation.
  • Provision and maintain development, test, and production environments, including configuration, secrets management, and promotion between environments.
  • Define infrastructure and platform state declaratively, maintain it in version control, and deploy it through an automated, peer-reviewed process.
  • Establish and maintain Git workflow standards, including branching, pull request review, and release traceability.
  • Provide a delivery path for AI-developed applications, including deployment of agents, integrations, and MCP connectors into supported environments.
  • Help AI and Data teams adopt source control, review, and deployment practices, and remove manual steps between working code and production.
  • Integrate systems through REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven automation to move data between platforms without manual re-entry.
  • Implement code scanning, dependency, and software supply chain controls in the pipeline against standards set with Information Security.
  • Instrument applications and pipelines with monitoring, alerting, and dashboards covering deployment health, failure rates, and time to recover.
  • Produce change history, approval records, and deployment evidence sufficient for agency, rating agency, and client review.
  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation for the pipelines, environments, and deployment tooling owned by the role.
