About The Position

Salesforce is seeking an experienced DevOps engineer to join a team of highly skilled Systems, Site Reliability, and DevOps Engineers focused on service availability and performance. The primary goal is to ensure maximum availability of Salesforce’s Government Cloud infrastructure through proactive enhancements, adept troubleshooting, and security compliance. A key aspect of the role involves advanced prompt engineering for AI outputs, ensuring they are reliable, secure, and production-ready. The ideal candidate has a passion for problem-solving, quickly diagnosing root causes, and ensuring the resiliency of production systems. This role involves leading key projects in the design, development, and post-release support of the Salesforce platform and tools used to support government customers. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal teams for efficient CI/CD pipeline iterations, building and shipping production-grade software with AI integrated into the development workflow, and designing systems where AI agents seamlessly integrate into human workflows. The role also involves contributing to shared system context for AI reliability, critically evaluating code (human or AI-generated), and transforming human-heavy processes into automated governance solutions. The engineer will gain experience with large-scale production infrastructure within third-party cloud service providers and create detailed documentation. Collaboration with various Infrastructure teams across Salesforce is expected, as is researching and creating new tools.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in AWS environments, including infra build and optimization.
  • Skilled in IaaS based TCP/IP networking protocols and associated components like transit gateway (tgw), vpc, security groups, and Route tables.
  • 3+ years deploying distributed apps with containers (Docker) & orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)
  • 3+ years development experience in Infrastructure as code and config management such as Terraform and/or Ansible
  • 3+ years Linux system engineering experience
  • 2+ years developing or managing infrastructure and application security for Highly Sensitive Customer Data & Environments (IAM, CI/CD, PKI)
  • 3+ years experience deploying with a CI orchestration service (Spinnaker, Jenkins)
  • 2+ years working experience scripting/programming language (Shell, Python, Golang)
  • Experience with Log Management and Analytics tools such as Splunk / ELK
  • A demonstrated, genuine AI-first approach to engineering. Using AI to move faster, build fluency across the stack, and contribute well beyond your core specialty.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor, etc.) in development workflows
  • Advanced prompt engineering skills and the ability to write precise, structured prompts and cultivate the system context that makes AI outputs reliable, secure, and production-ready.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and a dedication to ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal abilities with proficiency in both written and oral communication.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen operating on U.S. Soil with ability to meet customer and government screening standards applicable to this role, including a Criminal Justice Information Services screening with fingerprint scan.
  • This candidate must be a U.S. citizen (U.S. born or naturalized) who does not hold dual citizenship and agrees to complete a U.S. federal government Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) for a Moderate Public Trust position.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in production service management, including on-call/PagerDuty rotations and the monitoring and alerting of service-specific SLIs and SLOs
  • Experience in any of the monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, etc.
  • Experience developing security & compliance into pipelines such as (OPA, Checkov, Twistlock, Prisma)

Responsibilities

  • Transforming human heavy processes into automated governance solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Improving influence and collaboration skills working with various other Infrastructure teams across Salesforce.
  • Researching and finding the right tools for the job, and if they don't exist creating them.
