Device Firmware Engineer, Fleet Migration
About The Position
Knightscope (NASDAQ: KSCP) is a security technology company building the nation's first Autonomous Security Force: autonomous machines, AI-driven software, and elite security professionals operating as one integrated managed service. The Company is on a mission to make the United States of America the safest country in the world. One Team. One Force. You will complete the firmware migration for the Signals device fleet that a paired engineer started earlier in the year. Together you will own the firmware layer end to end, in partnership with the centralized Engineering Services function that handles fleet-wide release automation.
Requirements
- 7+ years in embedded firmware engineering.
- Strong C/C++ and Linux embedded systems experience.
- OTA update mechanisms and production fleet firmware experience.
- Comfort joining an in-flight migration and an established codebase.
Nice To Haves
- IoT or security device fleet experience.
- Multi-product firmware standards work.
- Prior work in vendor-to-internal codebase transitions.
Responsibilities
- Complete the phased migration of Signals device firmware from vendor to internal ownership.
- Provide on-call coverage and redundancy for the firmware layer.
- Partner with Engineering Services on unified OTA delivery.
- Contribute to firmware release process, version control, and rollback discipline.
- Participate in cross-product firmware standards through the Center of Engineering Excellence.
