About The Position

Thom Child & Family Services in Boston, MA is seeking a Developmental Specialist/Early Childhood Educator to join their team. This position offers a salary range of $51,000 to $56,000, with actual pay based on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. The role involves providing home and community-based early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years) who have or are at risk for developmental delays, and their families. The specialist will partner with parents/caregivers to ensure individualized, meaningful, and evidence-based service delivery, prioritizing families’ priorities, needs, culture, and values. The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and at least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with young children. Bilingual skills in Spanish or Portuguese are a must.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in infants and toddlers (includes Early Intervention and Early Childhood Education), child development, child studies, education or special education
At least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with young children.
Knowledge of family systems and early childhood development.
Ability to engage in meaningful, therapeutic relationships with children, parents/caregivers, and community partners.
Commitment to delivering individualized and culturally humble services.
Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Abide by all confidentiality and professional boundaries standards.
Good computer skills as well as strong documentation skills.
Current driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Bilingual/Bicultural a must. (Spanish or Portuguese)

Responsibilities

Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments of the client’s developmental status.
Assess family and child strengths/resources, concerns, and progress.
Provide child and family centered services and activities developmentally appropriate for children birth to three and their families using parent coaching model.
Provide service coordination by scheduling, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the intervention plan for each family, ensuring that appropriate procedures and timelines are followed.
Partner with families in the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) to identify goals, objectives, and strategies related to the child’s development.
Facilitate parent-child interactions to encourage child's development; assist families to act as advocates for their child.
Complete progress notes, reports, assessments, and correspondence as appropriate using the Thom electronic documentation system.
Provide individual and group intervention for infants and toddlers from birth to three years old who have developmental delays or who are at risk for delays in the areas of cognition, adaptive behavior, social-emotional development, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication.
