About The Position

Xcel Energy is seeking one or more Developmental Planner I/II/Maintenance positions at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant in Welch, MN. This role focuses on Instrument & Controls planning, with Electrical experience being considered. The position offers a developmental path from Planner I to Planner II and ultimately to Maintenance Planner, with increasing responsibilities and complexity in work order package development. The base pay for a Development Planner I is $48.68/hr. The successful candidate may be hired at the Planner I, Planner II, or Maintenance Planner level based on experience. The Developmental Planner I stage involves learning and developing the necessary skills to independently create work plans and simple work order packages, guided by the Maintenance Planner Qualification Manual. This stage may be waived for candidates meeting minimum requirements. Developmental Planner II personnel will be qualified to plan work order packages independently and will undergo a six-month evaluation period before promotion to Maintenance Planner. Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field or journeyman status in a related craft or related power plant experience, commercial or military, in the area of design, maintenance, or operations.
  • Minimum of 4 years power plant experience in a related field or operations.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly with all types of personnel/customers.
  • Ability to develop computer skills specific to maintenance planning activities.
  • Experience in Instrument & Controls planning is required; Electrical experience will be considered.

  • Power plant system training is highly valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of work control documents required for supporting preventative, corrective, and elective maintenance of equipment and structures at Prairie Island nuclear site.
  • Maintaining the reliability of equipment and structures at the Prairie Island Nuclear Facility.
  • Completion of the Maintenance Planner Qualification Manual to learn and develop the necessary knowledge and skills to develop Work Plans independently.
  • Development of simple Work Order packages at the direction of the Supervisor (Developmental Planner I).
  • Planning work order packages independently (Developmental Planner II).
  • Developing more complex Work Order packages in line with knowledge and skills (Developmental Planner II).
  • Performing technical duties including researching for repairs of Components/equipment/system in one or more of the following areas: mechanical, electrical, or instrument and controls.
  • Providing guidance for investigation, isolations, repairing, and testing by reading mechanical/electrical/structural/civil and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Developing or having knowledge of processes and programs such as Fire Protection, EQ, Section XI, ISI and IST, MOV, AOV, Quality, and others.
  • Performing planning duties utilizing system and component level knowledge.
