About The Position

Appalachian Community Services provides Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Substance Use, and Developmental Disability services to individuals, families, and communities within the seven western counties of North Carolina. We provide a wide range of walk-in, psychiatric, substance abuse, and crisis services to adults and children. We are actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Developmental Disability (DD) Supervisor - Residential Based to join our team full-time. This role is essential to our mission, providing therapy, crisis support, and service coordination for mental health clients in a variety of settings. As a Developmental Disability (DD) Supervisor - Residential Based with ACS, you will oversee daily operations in residential programs, maintain accreditation readiness, and support individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health, and substance use needs through coordination of services and person-centered planning.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a field other than human services with 4 years experience working with the MH/SA/DD population to be served.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services with 2 years experience working with the population served.
  • A master’s degree in human services with 1 year experience working with population served.
  • A professionally licensed clinician
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing if driving a personal and/or company owned vehicle in the course of work.
  • CPR & CPI certification required (will be provided post hire if not already certified)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support residential direct care staff, including conducting supervision meetings, reviewing documentation, approving timesheets, and ensuring compliance with training requirements.
  • Provide coaching, orientation, and ongoing professional development for staff.
  • Ensure residential facilities meet regulatory, safety, and sanitation standards through regular inspections and documentation.
  • Monitor medication storage and facility/vehicle safety, reporting issues to management as needed.
  • Maintain accreditation readiness through documentation reviews, policy updates, and quality assurance activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Person-Centered Plans (PCPs), including updates every 90 days and facilitation of PCP meetings.
  • Provide service coordination, link individuals and families to community resources, and facilitate authorizations with the MCO or funding source.
  • Maintain compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in supervision (if applicable based on licensure level).
