About The Position

Appalachian Community Services is hiring a Caregiver / Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Robbinsville, NC area to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their behavioral health needs. This role is a strong fit for experienced caregivers, DSPs, CNAs, HHAs, PCAs, home health workers, and other direct care professionals looking to continue their work in a meaningful, person-centered setting. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Reliable vehicle with insurance.
  • Ability to work scheduled 12-hour shifts
  • Physical ability to to work in a variety of environments including navigating stairs and other barriers in private residences.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in direct care, caregiving, home health, behavioral health, or related support roles is helpful, but not required. Training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily, individualized care focused on client safety, health, and well-being
  • Assist with personal care, including hygiene, grooming, feeding, and mobility
  • Help with daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and routine support
  • Follow each client’s Person Centered Plan (PCP) and behavior support plan
  • Support clients in building independence, daily living skills, and social skills
  • Transport clients to appointments, shopping, and community outings
  • Complete daily documentation and incident reports accurately and on time
  • Respond to crisis situations and emergencies with professionalism and empathy
  • Support clients with communication needs, including adaptive communication tools when needed
  • Additional duties as required to meet client needs
