About The Position

Neuropath Behavioral Healthcare provides comprehensive technology-driven healthcare solutions for various healthcare organizations. They are seeking internally motivated and adaptive Developmental Disabilities Interns to join their fast-paced, client-focused team. The internship offers a chance to make a daily impact on improving the quality of life for individuals served through 1:1 direct behavior analysis services in home and community settings.

Requirements

  • Current college student, or recent graduate.
  • Applicants must be pursuing or have a completed Master’s degree in Special Education, or a related field. Those with equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Must be able to provide proof of credentials and at least 3 professional references.
  • Must consent to and pass a formal background check including fingerprinting.
  • Planning or Currently enrolled in a Practicum or Internship in a Master’s Degree Program
  • Interns are required to complete the DCF COSC Behavioral Assistant Certification within 6 months of their hire date (Note: This is a Virtual Training that can be spread out over the 6 month period.)
  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in respite care, behavioral healthcare, or a similar field, with direct involvement in supporting individuals facing behavioral challenges (such as maladaptive behaviors), developmental/intellectual disabilities, or mental health conditions.
  • Has knowledge of Behavioral Interventions and some clinical training

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, or Creole preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, Creole).

Responsibilities

  • Accepting Respite and Behavioral Assistance Cases.
  • Shadowing Intensive in Community (IIC) and Behavioral Assistance (BA) Cases
  • Submission of weekly progress notes using daily living tasks checklist and DAP Note Format
  • Working directly with individuals ages 4-21 and their families
  • Providing Respite care or Behavioral Assistance to assigned youth
  • Assisting in providing individual and small group therapy
  • Assisting IIC Therapist in providing psychoeducation, crisis prevention and intervention, and addressing maladaptive behaviors in assigned youth.
  • Individual Support of plan development and implementation of BA Treatment Plans
  • Compliance with service authorization, including time frames and service hours.
  • Delivery and monitoring of behavior analysis services
  • Collect data and carry out treatment as designated by the supervising Therapist, which includes: facilitating environmental arrangements, using behavioral and clinical interventions, teaching and developing new skills
  • Implementation of behavioral procedures for the acquisition of replacement skills and reduction of problematic behavior
  • Behavior modification, conditioning, and positive reinforcement.
  • Must be willing to work with the child or youth to increase life skills
  • Assist parent/guardian in the implementation of the treatment plan.
  • Educate parents on positive parenting, behavior reinforcements, and smooth transitioning.
  • Assist Therapists in crisis prevention, recognition, and intervention.
  • Ensure all agency policies are implemented and followed.
  • Participate in required behavioral and clinical therapy training.
