About The Position

Our Real Estate Development team handles all elements of property acquisition, building development, and redevelopment. They work with government, municipalities, contractors, and other external and internal stakeholders to grow our portfolio of buildings and ensure we continue to meet the challenge of providing much needed affordable housing to the communities of Greater Victoria. Greater Victoria Housing Society (GVHS) is an award-winning registered charity and not for profit organization dedicated to providing high quality, secure and affordable rental housing for low to moderate income households. Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of Codes, Regulations, Land and Real Estate Development, Land Use Planning
  • Knowledge of multifamily real estate financing
  • Strong abilities with Share Point, Microsoft Word, Excel and Project Management Software
  • Ability to develop project proformas to assess the feasibility of a project
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
  • Ability to make decisions, assess situations and to determine the importance, urgency and risks and make clear decisions which are timely
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others on an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities
  • Must have a valid BC driver’s license and use of a reliable vehicle

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the planning and construction of housing development projects on behalf of GVHS.
  • Overseeing construction and design teams to create new housing.
  • Writing affordable housing funding proposals.
  • Conducting feasibility studies.
  • Facilitating stakeholder engagement activities.
