About The Position

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) is seeking a Development Officer to strengthen and grow its community of donors. This is a relationship-driven fundraising role focused on building genuine connections with individual and corporate supporters. The Development Officer will manage a portfolio of mid-level and major-gift relationships, identify new prospects, and cultivate deeper engagement and increased giving. Responsibilities include developing donor touchpoints, engaging stakeholders, partnering with marketing and program staff, supporting corporate partners, and maintaining donor activity records in Raiser’s Edge NXT. The role offers an opportunity to shape donor stewardship and contribute to a mission that changes lives.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, relationship management, or a related field.
  • A track record of building relationships people want to continue.
  • Experience in donor relations, annual giving, corporate engagement, community development, sponsorship, relationship-based sales, or other roles where you’ve been responsible for cultivating relationships and generating support.
  • Ability to build trust easily and genuinely connect with people.
  • Understanding that successful fundraising is about relationships, not transactions.
  • Comfort initiating conversations and making an ask.
  • Ability to follow through and pay attention to the details.
  • Skill in managing multiple relationships and priorities without losing the personal touch.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to make an organization’s impact come alive.
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Enjoyment of collaboration while taking ownership of own goals.
  • Desire for work to have a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve RMHCCIN’s donor stewardship program, creating thoughtful and personalized ways to recognize, engage, and retain supporters.
  • Build genuine relationships with individual and corporate donors and prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major-gift relationships through regular calls, emails, meetings, and meaningful follow-up.
  • Identify new prospects and develop strategies to move relationships from initial interest to deeper engagement and increased giving.
  • Ask for gifts that align donor interests with RMHCCIN priorities.
  • Develop donor touchpoints such as impact communications, milestone recognition, tours, and small stewardship gatherings.
  • Engage board members, volunteers, and staff in cultivation and stewardship.
  • Partner with marketing and program staff to tell compelling stories about the impact donors make possible.
  • Support corporate partners through relationship-building, volunteer engagement, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Keep donor activity and pipeline information organized and current in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
