About The Position

WIN House provides individuals and their children fleeing violence crisis response and intervention, safe temporary accommodation, and support for basic needs. Clients are offered trauma-informed, client-centered programming and support, access to resources, information, and referrals to community support. WIN House is working towards operating within a low-barrier model of care. Reporting to the Capital Campaign Manager, the Development Officer - Fundraising will play a key role in identifying new funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and expanding WIN House’s donor pipeline. This role will mainly focus on grant writing and donor prospecting to support the growth of our fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on research, storytelling, and building meaningful connections that translate into sustainable funding. This position is central to ensure we have the resources needed to meet increasing demand and advance transformative initiatives like WIN Together: The Miller Project.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled OR has education in Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing and/or donor research/prospecting
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate impact into compelling proposals
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect)
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate donor databases and records.
  • Coordinate donor recognition, stewardship, and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and prospect tracking systems
  • Support the creation of fundraising materials and solicitation packages
  • Assist with donor stewardship and recognition initiatives
  • Generate reports on fundraising performance and pipeline activity
  • Manage and maintain accurate and organized departmental electronic files while supporting and implement fundraising strategies and campaigns.
  • Research, identify, and track grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources
  • Develop, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports
  • Maintain a grants calendar to ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather data, outcomes, and program insights for proposals
  • Identify and cultivate new donor prospects through research and outreach.
  • Conduct donor research to identify and qualify new individual, corporate, and foundation prospects
  • Build and maintain a strong donor prospect pipeline aligned with campaign priorities
  • Support cultivation strategies, including donor outreach materials and briefing notes
  • Track donor engagement and giving trends to inform strategy
  • Develop fundraising materials, proposals, and solicitation packages.
  • Assist in organizing fundraising and community engagement events.
  • Generate reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement.
  • Collaborate with Development team members to schedule and deliver Lunch N’ Learn workshop sessions.
  • Other Development duties as required.
