About The Position

Cultivate Initiatives is entering an exciting stage of growth and diversification. Historically supported through public funding and government contracts, we are investing in building a stronger philanthropic and community fundraising program. The Development & Grants Manager will help shape that future by leading grant strategy, strengthening donor relationships, cultivating corporate partnerships, and building sustainable revenue streams that allow Cultivate Initiatives to serve more people throughout Portland. This role is ideal for someone who wants to build, create, and leave their fingerprints on an organization experiencing significant growth.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong sense of creativity in producing materials and problem solving
  • Ability to use sound judgment to make decisions that align with CI’s mission, values, and policies
  • Highly organized and skilled at managing coinciding project timelines
  • At least 2 years experience executing giving campaigns and other related development activities
  • Working knowledge of non-profit communications, fundraising, event coordination, grant processes, and best practices of donor database management
  • Associate’s degree and a year of professional experience or a minimum of three years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

  • Represent Cultivate Initiatives at events with community partners or funders
  • Manage the planning and organizing of two annual events for the purpose of fundraising or community engagement, including logistics, marketing materials, and sponsorships
  • Spearhead the grant process including identifying and researching potential grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and timely, effective grant reporting
  • Collaborate with Finance Team to maintain grant tracker
  • Oversee data management in CRM and donation platforms
  • Ensure timely and appropriate gift acknowledgement with letters and receipts, as defined by department guidelines
  • Connect with potential corporate sponsors
  • Attend monthly Development Committee meetings and prepare any necessary reports or presentations in advance
  • May perform other duties as requested by supervisor
  • Create content for newsletters, donor communications, website, and annual report through effective storytelling via video, photography, and written media
  • Prepare presentations and materials for fundraising events or other support for the Director of Development & Relationships
  • Coordinate of marketing strategy approved by executive team
  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns with support from the Director of Development & Relationships
  • Manage content on social media accounts
