About The Position

The National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL) is an award-winning organization dedicated to advancing women’s rights in Canada through feminist law reform advocacy. Since its creation over 50 years ago, NAWL has contributed to major milestones for gender equality, including in the areas of criminal, family, health and constitutional law. The Development Manager reports to NAWL’s Executive Director and supports the implementation of NAWL’s fundraising strategy, with a key responsibility of leading the planning and delivery of a major annual fundraising event. The ideal candidate brings solid experience in non-profit fundraising, with a demonstrated ability to identify and pursue funding opportunities, support donor engagement and stewardship, contribute to fundraising initiatives, and help diversify revenue streams. This is a full-time contract position, expected to begin in June or July 2026 and run until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability.

Requirements

  • A relevant post-secondary degree (e.g. Business, Non-profit management, Communications), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience, including demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and partners
  • Proven ability to plan, lead, and execute fundraising initiatives or events independently, from strategy through to delivery
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and deliver results
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small, dynamic team environment
  • Excellent writing skills in at least one official language
  • Experience using donor management and fundraising platforms (e.g., DonorPerfect)

  • Familiarity with feminist issues and the social justice or non-profit sector an asset

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a key annual fundraising event, including sponsorship development and coordination
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and other revenue streams
  • Draft and coordinate grant applications, and support reporting and compliance
  • Support the Executive Director in cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors and partners
  • Contribute to donor stewardship activities, communications, and fundraising campaigns
  • Track fundraising activities and maintain accurate donor records in DonorPerfect
  • Support major gift efforts, including preparing materials and coordinating meetings
  • Provide regular updates and contribute to reporting, including the annual impact report
  • Other duties as assigned
