About The Position

As a Development & External Affairs Intern on our Development & External Affairs team at Upstream, USA, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to various aspects of the Development & External Affairs function. You will work closely with members of our Development & External Affairs team to gain valuable learning opportunities and exposure to key team functions in support of Upstream’s mission and goals. Functions include development (fundraising) operations, external affairs (communication and relationship management), board operations, and executive support. Availability to commit to 40 hours per week for the duration of the internship preferable.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree related to interest in social impact, healthcare, public health or non-profit administration or other related major.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency or ability to learn a broad set of technology applications and tools for office and team work.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and contributing to a non-profit function focused on relationship and network management, communications, and stewardship for resources in service of organizational mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with customer relationship management software is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with file management or creating and organizing documents is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for Board Operations, including maintenance of the Board portal, governance records, and preparing related documents.
  • Contribute to Department operational projects including research, refreshing processes and procedures, general administrative support, records maintenance, knowledge management, and data quality projects.
  • Learning and development of skills and knowledge about non-profit fundraising, administration, communications, relationship building, and governance.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
