About The Position

Kick-start your engineering career at a U.S.-based, advanced semiconductor foundry working on real technology development—not just production support. As a Development Engineering Technician on the ATS Engineering team, you’ll work side-by-side with process engineers to run experiments, test new technologies, and contribute directly to next-generation microelectronics. This is an ideal role for early-career technicians looking for hands-on experience, deep semiconductor learning, and exposure to a wide variety of fab tools and process areas.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience with an AAS degree or 4 years experience without a a degree.
  • Must have technician experience in a semiconductor fab or relevant cleanroom/manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor processing in at least one area: Photo, Etch, Thin Films, CMP, or Implant/RTA.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Ability to work B Shift (Sun–Tue + every other Wed, 6:00 PM–6:15 AM).
  • U.S. Citizen Required: This position will require the holding of or ability to obtain government security clearance which requires U.S Citizenship

Nice To Haves

  • Some coursework in OR a recent engineering graduate (BS) with coursework or internships related to semiconductors, materials, physics, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Experience writing or updating engineering specs, RSC documents, or work instructions.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) or basic data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support Real Development Work: Communicate with Development Engineers during nights/weekends when ATS material needs attention to keep experiments moving.
  • Solve Problems in Real Time: Troubleshoot and disposition non-conforming material with guidance from engineering teams.
  • Execute Engineering Experiments: Complete standard and advanced experiments from our ATS Technician Request system—your work directly impacts technology validation and customer development programs.
  • Build Broad Fab Expertise: Become proficient operating across 100+ semiconductor toolsets, gaining cross-disciplinary exposure (Photo, Etch, Thin Films, CMP, Implant/RTA, and more).
  • Create & Improve Instructions and Recipes: Draft and refine work instructions, process flows, and metrology recipes to support repeatable and high-quality development runs.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve process quality alongside operations and engineering colleagues.
  • Work Independently & Grow Fast: Perform tasks with increasing independence as your technical confidence grows.
  • Flex as Needed: Perform other duties that support ATS engineering objectives.
