About The Position

Moog’s Military Aircraft Group is in search of a Development Engineering Technician reporting to the Development Lab Supervisor. As Development Engineering Technician will be responsible for applying the methods & techniques required to complete precision electromechanical assemblies; preparation of prototype level assembly & test instructions; generation of test setups; conducts performance & hardware development testing; observes & investigates new product assembly problems affecting assembly completion as well as functional performance; summarizes & assists cognizant engineering personnel in performance diagnosis; provides inputs for concurrent engineering & value engineering of various Moog products. This position offers a first shift, on-site schedule at our East Aurora, NY Location.

Requirements

  • 2-year Technical Degree plus 5 years electronics experience
  • Basic understanding of how electrical circuits and systems work, with an interest in learning how different parts interact within a product.
  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, diagrams, and written or verbal instructions with support as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and apply various assembly, measurement, and test techniques used in precision assembly work.
  • Ability to use basic mechanical inspection tools and learn to operate, electrical test equipment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to following established methods, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate under minimal direction performing complex assembly, testing & diagnostic analysis on a wide variety of electronics.
  • Mechanical assembly tasks include the buildup of close tolerance assemblies, the integration of precision components & the fabrication/installation of electrical assemblies.
  • Select & frequently create the required tools, fixtures and test setups.
  • Regularly assists cognizant engineering personnel in diagnosing performance problems and in defining design modifications or rework of parts.
  • Test tasks include conducting development and acceptance tests, as well as preparation of data summaries and test reports for internal use and customer transmittal.
  • Develop and apply methods, processes, and tooling to complete precision assemblies using engineering drawings and informal instructions.
  • Utilize mechanical inspection tools, electrical, and electromechanical test equipment to adjust and verify final configuration and performance.
  • Prepare development-level assembly and test instructions, and maintain accurate unit folder data and documentation.
  • Support Engineers by diagnosing performance issues, identifying required design modifications or part rework, and investigating build problems affecting assembly or functional performance.
  • Assist Engineers in creating formal technical documentation.
  • Assist rain new department personnel and support the transition of new products into production by coaching Production Assembly & Test teams as needed.
