About The Position
YBLA is committed to developing and empowering the next generation of Black leaders through leadership development, mentorship, education, service, and global experiences. We are seeking a passionate and driven Development Director to help expand YBLA’s impact by strengthening donor relationships, increasing fundraising efforts, and supporting the long-term sustainability of our programs.
Requirements
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Passion for youth development and advancing opportunities for Black youth
- Self-motivated, proactive, and solutions-oriented
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, nonprofit development, sales, marketing, or community engagement preferred
- Hybrid position requiring both in-office and remote work; candidates must live in Charlotte or the surrounding metropolitan area
- Some evening and weekend work required
- Travel required for meetings, events, and sponsor relationship-building opportunities
Responsibilities
- Develop strategies to increase YBLA’s individual and recurring donations
- Lead and manage fundraising campaigns that support YBLA’s programs and initiatives
- Supervise and support team members involved in fundraising and donor engagement efforts
- Meet with sponsors and donors to cultivate relationships and secure financial support
- Conduct research on prospective donors and sponsors to expand YBLA’s funding base
- Develop and implement a donor stewardship program to strengthen long-term engagement and retention
- Oversee donor data management and maintain accurate records in YBLA’s databases
- Process and track donations received electronically and by check
- Schedule meetings, document notes and action items, and ensure timely follow-up
- Execute special projects that support YBLA’s growth and long-term sustainability
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising and program-related events
- Attend community events and networking functions to increase awareness and support for YBLA
- Provide support to the marketing and programming teams as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of YBLA’s mission and organizational goals
