About The Position

College Possible Texas seeks an AmeriCorps VISTA to serve as a Development Capacity Builder at our Austin site, beginning in August 2026. The applicant must possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education. Applicants should also possess the ability to carefully and strategically plan individual work goals to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner and to closely monitor progress towards these goals and take appropriate remedial action when necessary. Successful applicants are leaders with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education.
  • Ability to carefully and strategically plan individual work goals to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner.
  • Ability to closely monitor progress towards goals and take appropriate remedial action when necessary.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university (fields such as Communications, Public Administration, or Marketing preferred) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a burgeoning interest in nonprofit development, marketing, or community partnerships.
  • Adaptable, proactive problem-solver who thrives in a "build-from-scratch" environment rather than a maintenance-based role.
  • Emotional maturity to interact with diverse groups of volunteers and donors, maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor under the pressure of live events.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills are essential; candidates must be able to translate complex organizational goals into compelling social media, e-news, and blog content.
  • Ability to read and interpret social media metrics and donor engagement data to refine outreach strategies.
  • Must be able to effectively present the organization's mission to the general public and manage clear, professional correspondence with stakeholders.
  • High level of competency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to organize multiple "moving parts" for volunteer events and develop systematic workflows for engagement.
  • Must submit to and pass a comprehensive criminal background check before a final placement offer is made.

  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and design platforms is a significant plus.
