About The Position

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) is seeking a Development Assistant for Campaigns. This role reports to the Development Officer for Campaigns and is responsible for supporting the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Trustees, donors, and prospects in relation to the Museum’s campaign planning and donor recognition efforts. The position involves administrative tasks such as drafting funding proposals and acknowledgement letters, tracking donor gifts, and providing logistical support for Trustee meetings and capital campaigns. Requirements

  • BA degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with others, as well as independently.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in the arts and a commitment to the Museum's mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Art History, Art Administration, or English degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in development or a related field, ideally in a non-profit context, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Tessitura or other major development database system preferred.
  • Experience with Workday or other financial management system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft acknowledgment letters and other correspondence related to gifts of cash in support of the Museum’s campaigns, as well as other related written communications for Trustees and individual donors and prospects.
  • Assist with the preparation and finalization of funding proposals, stewardship reports, and related mailings and materials for individual prospects and donors of capital projects, gallery reinstallations, and major campaign initiatives.
  • Oversee pledge payment tracking for individual donors and coordinate the drafting and sending of payment reminders across individual giving teams within the Development Office.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Trustee meetings, campaign-specific meetings, and other fundraising meetings, and help facilitate moves management tracking and related follow-up.
  • Assist with the coordination and production of Museum recognition projects, including related correspondence, materials, and signage, primarily focused on space namings and donor plaques.
  • Provide procurement support, including ensuring compliance with Museum policies and procedures related to purchasing goods and services and submitting requisitions, supplier invoice requests, and other forms for payment.
  • Interface with members of the Museum’s curatorial and administrative departments.
  • Maintain and update donor database records.
  • Be available to work both day and evening events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
