About The Position

Boston College is seeking a Development Assistant to join the Corporate & Foundation Relations unit as part of the 'Soaring Higher' campaign. This role supports fundraisers and university colleagues in securing philanthropic support. The Development Assistant will prepare materials for prospect visits, make travel arrangements, process transmittal forms for gifts, file visit reports, draft gift acknowledgments, and request donor information. This position also involves supporting external constituent visits, meetings, and special events, often in collaboration with the Programs and Events team. The Corporate & Foundation Relations unit focuses on securing funding between $50,000-$1,000,000+ from foundations and corporations for academic units. The role will provide support for 2-3 CFR Officers, assist with proposal and report preparation, collaborate with the Office for Sponsored Programs, and research funders. The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and discretion with confidential data. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in a professional setting
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including effective phone communication skills
  • Accurate typing skills
  • A working knowledge of Windows PC, including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management databases
  • Exceptional proofreading
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A commitment to accuracy
  • Very adept at handling multiple tasks and working well within deadlines
  • Good judgment
  • Discretion in handling confidential materials
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Flexibility to work beyond the regular workday hours when necessary
  • Solid knowledge of grammar and punctuation
  • A high school diploma
  • Candidates should be highly motivated to work in a fast-paced environment that requires some evening and night work

Responsibilities

  • Preparing materials for fundraiser prospect visits
  • Making travel arrangements

  • Requesting research and pulling additional donor or prospect information from various systems
