Developer - Power System Simulation Model
About The Position
Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Developer. The Smart Grid Technology Lab focuses on research in real-time simulation technologies, microgrid energy management, control systems, and other smart grid technologies. We apply cutting-edge technologies to the digital power industry. The lab has developed into a research organization with significant achievements and a strong impact in the industry. This role involves working under a supervisor with a team of experts to develop a set of power system and control component models for power system EMT simulation. The developer will implement the models in C++ as objects, ensure their long-term numerical stability, and optimize them for execution speed. They will also benchmark the models with widely used simulation tools and develop documentation for algorithms, user manuals, and demo cases.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar background.
- Proven experience with EMT simulation model development.
- Thorough understanding of numerical methods.
- Familiarity with sparse matrix decomposition algorithms and parallel processing algorithms.
- Broad knowledge and experience with the latest technologies, especially in the areas of power systems, power electronics, microgrid, distributed renewable resources, etc.
- Advanced relationship management skills and highly effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in English is essential.

- Familiarity with graph theory is an asset.
