About The Position

The Salvation Army Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) is seeking to fill a full-time Detox Counselor position (32 hours/wk). This role is responsible for providing Detox clients with the clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs. The counselor will provide screening, admission, discharge, and referral services to Detox clients. Additionally, the role involves providing individual counseling and conducting alcohol education and skill-building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment. The counselor will also handle crises and client issues for all ATS clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one-year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.
  • Demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master’s degree in behavioral health science.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.
  • Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons.
  • Ability to function as a team member.
  • Ability to respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Training.
