About The Position

The City of Chandler Police Department, Police Detention Unit is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Detention Supervisor. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The Police Detention Unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This position is required to work various schedules to include days, swing-shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period. The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 348 sworn officers and 192 civilians, serves a growing population of approximately 290,000 residents. The organization is divided into three main divisions, one bureau, and many sections/units. The Patrol Operations Division three precincts, 1) Main Station - Downtown & North Chandler, 2) Desert Breeze - West Chandler, and 3) Chandler Heights - South Chandler, work in concert with the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Operational Support Bureau, and Professional Services Division to meet the needs of the community. Performs the duties of a Detention Officer. Develops unit policies and procedures. Oversees the general care and custody of arrestees and detainees. Conducts holding facility inspections. Prepares reports. Responds to internal and external inquiries.

Requirements

Must possess a High School or GED equivalency.
Must have 4-years’ experience as a detention officer, or a related role or position.
Must possess a DPS Terminal Operator Level B upon hire.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work may be substituted for the required years of experience.
