About The Position

The Master Control Detention Specialist is responsible for the supervision of employee, visitor, and inmate movement throughout the facility. They are responsible for directing radio communications both internally and externally for the jail facility. Additionally, they will be required to maintain and collect daily records pertinent to their position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be proficient in clerical/computer entry
  • Must possess strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform varied clerical tasks sometimes under pressure of time and heavy workload
  • Must have a working knowledge of correct English grammar and spelling
  • Must be able to deal with information of a confidential and/or unpleasant nature
  • Must be able to learn quickly and retain knowledge of varied and sometimes complex procedures
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and shift work
  • May be required to work special hours on short notice
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Must successfully pass a complete and thorough application and background investigation
  • Polygraph examination, psychological evaluation and drug screen is required
  • Must be 18 years of age

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring movement in the facility
  • Ensures that authorized staff and inmate movement in and out of the facility
  • Responsible for monitoring and directing radio traffic for the facility and transport team
  • Required to work with other law enforcement jurisdictions
  • Assists with public contacts and communication
  • Be proficient with the jail’s record management system
  • Required to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Escort visitors throughout the facility
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Must acquire and Maintain Colorado Notary in first 3 months of employment
