About The Position

This is a law enforcement position within Sampson County. The Detention Officer is responsible for maintaining security and order within the detention facility. The role requires adherence to strict legal and ethical standards, including US citizenship, age requirements, and a thorough background investigation.

Requirements

• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Must be a high school graduate, or the equivalent (GED).
• Must have been fingerprinted by the employing agency.
• Must have had a medical examination by a licensed physician.
• Must pass a psychological screening.
• Must have produced a negative result on a drug screen.
• Must make full disclosure of criminal charges and Domestic Violence Orders, both upon application and while holding certification.
• Must be of good moral character.
• Must have a thorough background investigation conducted by the employing agency, to include a personal interview prior to employment.
• Must not have a prohibitive criminal history record.
• Must be a US citizen or a legal alien authorized to maintain employment in the United States.
