About The Position

As a Detention Officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, you will supervise, secure, control, and care for inmates in the Detention Facility. This role requires compliance with all established policies, rules, memos, and procedures, while maintaining discipline and order among inmates and preventing disturbances and escapes. The position involves providing impartial evaluation of inmates, coping with hostile and aggressive behaviors, maintaining a calm demeanor in stressful situations, and seeking cooperation from individuals with varied backgrounds.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Possess a high school diploma or GED Certificate
• Ability to attend the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and successfully pass the Detention Basic Course within one year of hire
• Pass C-PAT test
• Pass Mental Health test
• Pass a Physical done by a Physician
• Pass a background check with a clear criminal history
• Possess a valid Montana Driver License
• Successfully complete a 12 week F.T.O program
• Possess the ability to understand and follow laws, policies, procedures, and orders
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships
