The Detention Officer supervises and monitors the behavior of residents, coordinating and cooperating with law enforcement and judiciary agencies as necessary. This role involves a wide range of detention duties, including proper booking, incarceration, and ensuring the safety of individuals committed to the Detention Center. Responsibilities also extend to facility maintenance, such as inspecting, cleaning, and sanitizing the facility, identifying and reporting sanitation issues, and managing inventories of sanitation supplies, inmate supplies, and stored clothing. The work schedule is determined by facility needs, and the employee may be required to transport prisoners to court and other appearances. All duties must be performed with minimal supervision. Detention officers may be assigned to duty stations within the Adult Male Unit or Adult Female Unit. The position may require irregular hours, attending briefings 15 minutes before and after shifts, and attending job-related meetings both locally and out of town.
