About The Position

This position ensures that vehicles sent to the Detail Shop are cleaned and detailed to sale condition according to customer specifications and Auction standards by inspecting vehicles and work areas upon completion of reconditioning work. The role involves cleaning out and de-trashing vehicle interiors, removing extraneous items from windows, disassembling spare tires, washing vehicles, applying chemicals, power-washing engine compartments, cleaning various vehicle parts (doorjambs, sills, panels, wheels, tires, etc.), detailing interior and exterior components, buffing vehicles with compound and cleaner, waxing and buffing exterior painted surfaces, vacuuming interiors, shampooing and spot cleaning carpet and upholstery, straightening seatbelts, and cleaning the glove box while ensuring manufacturer-issued information is returned. The position also requires a visible demonstration of safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors, actively participating in safety activities, and performing other duties as assigned by management, which may include driving vehicles to and from the clean car staging area and occasional sale day driving.

Requirements

  • Generally, less than 2 years’ experience in a related field
  • Safe drivers needed
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lean for extended periods
  • Must clear a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship.

  • Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application processes, and associated repair procedures

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles and work areas upon completion of reconditioning work to ensure they meet sale condition standards.
  • Clean out and de-trash vehicle interiors, including ashtrays, console, dashboard, door panels, seats, trunk, and engine compartment.
  • Remove license plates, stickers, and non-pertinent writing from windows.
  • Disassemble spare tires in the trunk.
  • Wash vehicles using high-pressure washers or automatic car wash equipment.
  • Apply chemicals, power-wash engine compartments, and clean battery terminals.
  • Clean doorjambs, sills, interior panels, wheels, tires, hub caps/wheel covers, wheel wells, moldings, bumpers, head- and taillights, spare tire, exterior panels, trunk, hood, and interior and exterior windows.
  • Detail vehicles by cleaning and dressing trim, molding, weather stripping, instrument panel, steering wheel, dash molding, etc. with detail brushes.
  • Buff vehicles by applying dressing to engine compartment, wheels, wheel wells, tires, vinyl tops, etc.
  • Apply compound, cleaner, and/or polish to vehicles interior, and buff out using a rotary buffer or by hand.
  • Wax and buff exterior and all painted surfaces of vehicles using a hand-type buffer.
  • Vacuum interior, scrub, shampoo, and spot clean carpet and upholstery.
  • Straighten seatbelts.
  • Clean glove box and ensure warranty booklet, owner's manual, and other manufacturer-issued information is returned.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, including driving vehicles into the building and to the proper clean car staging area, and occasional sale day driving.
