About The Position

The Detail Supervisor is a hands-on, working supervisor responsible for performing and overseeing detailed cleaning across the Philadelphia Union campus. This role helps ensure that the stadium and related facilities are clean, safe, presentable, and ready to welcome fans, players, employees, and guests during daily operations, Philadelphia Union matches, special events, and private functions. The Detail Supervisor provides direct shift-level supervision to assigned part-time, temporary, and event-day housekeeping employees. Using independent judgment within established departmental policies, this position assigns and directs work, adjusts staffing and assignments based on operational needs, trains employees, and inspects completed work. The Detail Supervisor works alongside the housekeeping team and regularly performs custodial duties. However, the position remains responsible for the direction, productivity, conduct, safety, and performance of employees assigned to the shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least two years of commercial housekeeping, custodial, or facility-cleaning experience.
  • Previous experience as a lead worker, shift leader, or working supervisor preferred.
  • Experience working in a stadium, arena, entertainment venue, hospitality environment, or other large public facility is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise employees, assign and responsibly direct work, evaluate performance, and hold employees accountable for established standards.
  • Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment when making shift-level staffing, work-assignment, performance, and operational decisions.
  • Working knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures, chemicals, equipment, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial cleaning equipment and properly handle cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions, train employees, and respectfully redirect work when standards are not met.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee detailed cleaning throughout Subaru Park and other assigned facilities.
  • Direct and supervise assigned housekeeping employees, including part-time, temporary, and event-day staff, during daily operations, event preparation, event-time coverage, post-event cleanup, and special cleaning projects.
  • Assign housekeeping employees to work areas and establish cleaning priorities based on event schedules, facility conditions, staffing levels, and operational requirements.
  • Responsibly direct employees and adjust assignments, staffing coverage, break schedules, and work priorities as circumstances change throughout the shift.
  • Exercise independent judgment when responding to immediate housekeeping, staffing, safety, and facility-readiness concerns within the scope of the position's authority.
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, conduct, safety practices, and compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Train and coach housekeeping employees regarding cleaning techniques, department procedures, equipment operation, chemical handling, workplace safety, productivity, and service expectations.
  • Inspect completed work, identify incomplete or substandard performance, and direct employees to take immediate corrective action.
  • Document employee performance, attendance, conduct, policy violations, safety concerns, and corrective coaching accurately and promptly.
  • Initiate or effectively recommend employee recognition, additional training, schedule or assignment changes, corrective action, discipline, suspension, or discharge based on documented performance, conduct, and operational needs.
  • Participate in interviewing and evaluating housekeeping candidates and provide effective recommendations regarding hiring and placement decisions.
  • Communicate and enforce departmental policies, applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions, safety requirements, and management directives consistently and professionally.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of event-day employees, temporary labor, and third-party custodial personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Provide shift updates to the Housekeeping Superintendent, including staffing levels, completed assignments, outstanding work, performance concerns, incidents, supply needs, and facility conditions.
  • Serve as the primary housekeeping point of contact during assigned shifts.
  • Address employee performance and conduct concerns within the position's authority; document the circumstances, provide appropriate coaching or direction, initiate or effectively recommend corrective action, and escalate significant matters to management.
  • Reinforce cleanliness, sanitation, presentation, and guest-service standards.
  • Assist with event-day setup, in-event cleaning, spill response, and post-event cleanup.
  • Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from Operations, Security, Event Services, and other departments.
  • Monitor supplies and communicate replenishment needs to management.
  • Properly use and care for commercial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, vacuums, extractors, pressure washers, and related equipment.
  • Identify and report damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, spills, or facility damage.
  • Follow all chemical-labeling, Safety Data Sheet, personal protective equipment, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping closets, storage areas, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Participate in deep-cleaning projects and other stadium operations assignments as needed.
  • Complete cleaning checklists, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to employees, guests, vendors, and event personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
