About The Position

Our clients Customer Solution provides best-in-class customer service and IT solutions that enable our business customers to win in the markets they compete. This role will support the Baytown Technology and Engineering Complex (BTEC) by delivering technical solutions, process improvements, and seamless support for lab environments. You will interface with local and global IT service partners and collaborate with CX regional teams (Americas, EAME, AP) to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-effective IT operations. This position offers exposure to a breadth of opportunities across infrastructure, applications, business analysis, and process engineering, working closely with business customers in Upstream, Downstream, Chemical, and Corporate functions to understand their needs and deliver increased business value through innovation and advanced technology.

Requirements

  • Operating Systems Expertise: Experience supporting multiple Windows OS versions (XP, 7, 10, 11), including specialized modes (kiosk, test mode, SMBv1).
  • Networking Knowledge: Understanding of IP addressing, DHCP vs static, multi-NIC configurations, and proxy setups.
  • Hardware Familiarity: Ability to work with PCI cards, serial adapters, and related device drivers.
  • Remote Management: Proficiency in Active Directory and Remote Desktop.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and understand scripting languages (basic scripting skills are a plus).
  • Excellent documentation practices.

Nice To Haves

  • VMware Workstation and vSphere experience.
  • SCCM/MECM for system management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and VDI environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for BTEC labs, including:
  • Management of Lab, LAN, and local non-domain user accounts.
  • Administration of lab-related computer systems and technical projects.
  • Support domain migration of lab machines from legacy domains to secure research domains.
  • Maintain and reconcile lab inventory (evergreen process).
  • Test and implement application virtualization, moving toward VDI solutions.
  • Collaborate with lab technicians and vendors for technical solutions, upgrades, and preventative maintenance on instrument control applications.
  • Ensure strong documentation and adherence to security and compliance standards.
