About The Position

Floor & Decor Designers provide a consultative design service from project start to finish, building customer relationships and brand loyalty. They meet with customers, listen to project needs, explain project requirements, and develop creative design concepts that reflect customers’ personal style, lifestyle, and budget. Designers advise on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects, and design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions. They manage multiple customer projects through all phases, coordinating with store leadership and employees from inquiry through installation while maintaining accurate, timely follow-up and communication. Limited travel by car may be required. The role frequently involves a warehouse environment and moving vehicles, with noise typically moderate to noisy. The physical demands are classified as Medium Work, including occasional exertion of 20–50 pounds, frequent exertion of 10–25 pounds, and constant exertion of up to 10 pounds. The employee often handles or feels objects and occasionally stands, walks, reaches, climbs or balances, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.

Requirements

• At least one year of interior design experience or prior retail or sales experience.
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Design.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring.

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, and develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Advise homeowners, interior designers, and builders on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and clear communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
