About The Position

The Designer - Truss Plant will be responsible for reviewing and converting information from the Sales team into truss layouts and engineered drawings using design software. This role involves inputting data for shop orders, coordinating with customers for approved designs, and resolving design-related concerns. The position requires collaboration across departments and participation in design meetings.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architectural Construction Technology, Construction Management, or a related field-or an equivalent mix of education and practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in construction or building materials preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience with truss design software (Alpine, Mitek, and other related engineering software required)
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings using drafting tools
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling/visualization
  • Experience with Alpine, Mitek, and other related engineering software required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially wood trusses and engineered building components
  • Solid math and basic engineering knowledge with strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Wall panel design experience is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, and convert information from the Sales team into Alpine Systems or other design software to create truss layouts and engineered drawings for residential, commercial, and agricultural builds.
  • Input precise and complete data into the IntelliView and generate accurate shop orders.
  • Coordinate with Sales and customers to obtain approved designs, ensuring timely processing and release of work orders.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales Representatives, customers, and building officials to address and resolve design-related concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments through effective communication.
  • Participate in scheduled design meetings to stay aligned with departmental updates and contribute to process improvements.
