The Womenswear Sport Designer is responsible for designing and managing the development of seasonal womenswear product specific to assigned categories and ensuring the timely execution of each stage in the design and development process.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications; focus on Illustrator
  • Highly developed sense of creativity for color, prints and pattern
  • Hand drawing, sketching and / or painting skills a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and calendars
  • Ability to learn, and flexibility to work on any project big or small
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with other designers
  • Ability to work cross functionally
  • Strong organization and attention to detail skillset
  • Technical trade school and/ or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years’ experience in apparel design preferably in sport and activewear

Responsibilities

  • Design seasonal womenswear sport product by researching and interpreting market trends (competitors and non-competitors) that are appropriate to the TM brand
  • Manage design development of styles from concept to fit approval, including developing trims and applications specific to seasonal concepts
  • Experience in fitting activewear garments with knowledge of sport fabrics and construction techniques
  • Follow through on completing fit updates in collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Update tech packs and CADs after fittings and in accordance to calendar deadlines
  • Develop tech packs (in Adobe Illustrator) for all designs, following procedures for handing off to cross-functional teams
  • Design special make-up unit (SMU) designs as needed
  • Additional responsibilities, outside of seasonal collections, as assigned
