Designer Software Technology Leader

Salas O'BrienEvansville, IN
Onsite

About The Position

The Designer Software Technology Leader provides division-level leadership for BIM standards, software workflows, model coordination, and document management platforms while also supporting project execution on selected large and medium-sized projects. This role connects strategy and delivery by helping the Evansville team use BIM tools consistently, improve collaboration across disciplines, and apply practical technology solutions during design and construction administration. The scope of this role includes both divisional and project responsibilities. Divisional responsibilities focus on standards, governance, training, software strategy, workflow improvement, and knowledge sharing across the Evansville team. Project responsibilities focus on applying those standards and tools to active work, including BIM execution planning, model coordination, clash detection, drawing setup, scan integration, and communication with Project Managers during design and construction administration. This role does not require expert-level proficiency in every software platform used by the division. However, the BIM Technology Leader is expected to understand the purpose of each major platform, how the platforms connect across disciplines, where workflow gaps exist, and when additional subject matter expertise is needed. The role will also monitor technology and software developments, evaluate their potential value, and recommend improvements that support productivity, quality, and collaboration. A successful candidate will combine technical credibility, practical project execution experience, and the ability to influence teams without direct authority. This person should be comfortable translating project needs into BIM workflows, guiding others through software and coordination challenges, and helping establish repeatable processes that improve quality and efficiency across the division. This role is vital to the continued development of technology platforms for Salas O’Brien in Evansville, IN. The position will help the division evaluate and improve its tools, establish consistent workflows, and add value to projects through improved productivity, coordination, and quality.
