About The Position

Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United) is seeking an enthusiastic piping designer with experience supporting power generation and heavy industrial projects to be based in Newport Michigan at DTE Fermi Power Plant. The successful applicant can look forward to projects including working on new build simple and combined cycle powerplants and developing plant modifications on projects throughout the United States and Canada. Requirements

  • Associate degree in piping design (technical field) or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience beyond associate degree in powerplant piping and support design.
  • Proficiency with AutoDesk Plant3D, P&ID and AutoCAD.
  • Proficient with Bentley MicroStation.
  • U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements due to access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision, design medium to complex mechanical / piping systems using 2D and 3D design tools.
  • Understand the process of design development, preparing drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings (GA), equipment plans, and piping orthographic and isometric drawings.
  • Review mechanical supplier documents for accuracy.
  • Coordinate mechanical / piping design activities with other discipline groups.
