Requirements

• 2+ years of related experience. (In addition to preferred Associates degree or its equivalency in directly related experience)
• Knowledge of mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering design drafting principles.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations, related codes, and standards.
• Knowledge of company design and operating standards.
• Strong Microstation/AutoCAD skills.
• Strong math skills including geometry and trigonometry required to perform complex calculations.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to maintain and update DOT class location maps
• Ability to plan and schedule work independently
• Ability to lead and teach draftspersons
• Ability to size and design structural steel and reinforced concrete components
• Ability to complete designs for large and/or complex systems
• Ability to develop new applications within the Microstation/AutoCAD system

Responsibilities

• Manually and electronically designs and drafts detailed drawings, such as wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and mechanical systems for portions of large and/or complex construction projects.
• Evaluates engineering work and supporting documents to verify conformance to industry codes and company specifications and standards.
• May visit construction sites.
