About The Position

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is seeking a Designer II (M), Interaction Design in Bellevue, WA. This role involves owning the UX design aspect of a product’s development process, leading strategic projects, and setting direction with leadership. The position requires reviewing and analyzing UX in early development phases, providing feedback and design alternatives, and ensuring UI development meets market demand, technical specifications, and requirements. Collaboration with internal teams such as product design research, engineering, and marketing is essential. The role includes conducting group usability studies, analyzing competitor UX and market trends, and providing technical leadership. Responsibilities also encompass managing project schedules and risks, leading design reviews, anticipating roadblocks, and resolving UX-related issues throughout the product lifecycle. The Designer II will lead a small team, including hiring and mentoring direct reports, and manage a major carrier account.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Graphic Design, Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Communication or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered or as a UX, Designer, UX researcher, UX analyst, UX program manager, or another related occupation.
  • Three years of experience in hands-on experience with design communication, project management, design, and stakeholder management in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Three years of people management experience including hiring, firing, and mentoring.
  • Three years of technical cross-functional project management experience.
  • One year of establishing and implementing direction and design strategy for technical products.

Responsibilities

  • Own the UX design aspect of a product’s development process, leading strategic project(s) and setting a direction with leadership.
  • Review and analyze UX in early phases of development and deliver feedback with design alternatives.
  • Ensure that the UI development results meet market (consumer) demand, technical specifications and requirements.
  • Communicate and cooperate with counterparts located in other related internal teams such as product design research, engineering, and marketing.
  • Conduct group usability studies and documenting results and analysis of the studies.
  • Analyze UX of competing mobile devices as well as market trends in mobile UX.
  • Provide technical leadership and direct and monitor overall project’s schedule health and risks at all times, manage meetings and design reviews, and anticipate roadblocks.
  • Own tracking, managing and resolving of any UX related issues that are raised during the lifecycle of the product.
  • Lead a small team.
  • Responsible for hiring and mentoring direct report(s).
  • Manage a major carrier account.
