About The Position

This role involves conceptualizing, developing, and designing piston engines and their components. The Designer I will manage multiple design projects simultaneously, coordinating efforts with program management, sales, and procurement. Responsibilities include developing layouts and detail designs of various parts, assemblies, accessories, and engine components, as well as checking new engine part models and preparing detail drawings for fabrication and inspection.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree, from an ADDA or equivalent accreditation body, in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Technology with at least two years practical application (i.e. internship) experience OR Bachelors Degree in Computer Aided Product Design.
  • Previous education or experience in Engineering Drafting may allow wavier of education requirements.
  • Textron Lycoming Service School and Aircraft Reciprocating Engines class completion within one year of placement required.
  • NX Desginer Certified Professional examination within one year of placement required.
  • American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) Drafter Certification examination within one year of placement required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize develop, and design piston engines and their components.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • Direct scheduling and coordinating efforts with program management, sales, and procurement.
  • Develop layouts and detail designs of various parts, assemblies, accessories, and engine components.
  • Check the layout and design of new engine part models.
  • Prepare detail drawings required to present information to fabricate and inspect engine parts.
  • Investigate engineering project requests and prepare engineering change orders for drawing updates.
  • Accurately and completely check drawing revisions and change order content.
  • Review assembly drawings for interchangeability of parts and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Develop experimental parts lists and prepare experimental material and part releases.
  • Perform assigned work in a safety conscious manner.
  • Perform assigned work to specific quality and production standards.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and work area in a clean professional condition.
  • Prepare or maintain all documentation necessary for the job classification.
  • Perform other duties inherently required of the job classification.
