DESIGNER/DRAFTER II
About The Position
This CAD Designer/Drafter position supports engineering and project teams by producing and modifying technical drawings, layouts, and design models for components, facilities, and systems. The role involves creating computer-aided design (CAD) drawings of moderate complexity using established standards, specifications, and engineering input. Working under the direction of senior designers and engineers, the CAD Designer contributes to the development of accurate, high-quality design deliverables that support fabrication, construction, operation, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in CAD drafting, design, or a closely related technical field.
- Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical instructions.
- Understanding of basic engineering design principles and fabrication/construction processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Nice To Haves
- Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial design environments.
- Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and drafting best practices.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Basic knowledge of fabrication, installation, and maintenance requirements.
- Experience contributing to process improvement or design efficiency initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Produce and modify routine CAD drawings, layouts, and design models for components, systems, and facilities.
- Develop technical drawings based on engineering input, industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency of drawings.
- Perform basic engineering calculations and apply design principles to support component and system design.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project budgets, schedules, and applicable technical requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records related to job functions.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners, as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or incidents to management.
- Participate in required training sessions and safety briefings.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.
