About The Position

As a Designer, you will be responsible for providing technical and hands-on support in creating design deliverables. This role involves performing detailed design for electrical substations, permitting support, site layout, grading design, retaining wall design, stormwater analysis, containment structure design, survey coordination, and civil construction support. Additionally, you will conduct transmission right-of-way access improvement design including culvert sizing, stormwater drainage analysis, stabilization specification, construction support, and inspection. You will also develop and modify design criteria utilizing industry standards and client specifications, and coordinate design activities with other departments such as Transmission, Distribution, and Survey. Maintaining a high level of quality and responsiveness in alignment with Pickett’s standards is crucial.

Requirements

Associate degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Technology (required)
5-7+ years of hands-on design experience (required)
Experience and technical knowledge of design codes and software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation and stormwater analysis programs) (required)
Ability to collaborate with team members as well as peers in the electrical utility industry
Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
Strong time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
Able to communicate technical matters in an understandable and efficient manner
Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology (preferred)
