About The Position

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments. Seeking an individual to support Planning Yard by preparing design drawings to support upgrades/modifications to shipboard Electrical systems. Individual will be validating shipboard conditions and developing plans/sketches for new installs/upgrades on existing Navy Ships. Individual will also convert sketches/mark-ups into AutoCAD drawings as required.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of experience
Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience
US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of all Electrical Arrangements and Cableways drawings on US Navy Surface Combatants is preferred.
Overall computer literacy skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines during the drawing development process.
Able to ship check and provide detailed mark-ups to support drawing development.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft products.
Able to work alone or as part of team with minimum supervision during ship checks and in off-site office.
Ability to obtain secret clearance required.
Shipboard experience with LCS, LPD, LHD, and LHA ships will be a plus.
